Makeovers at Adams City Middle School

Adams City Middle School (ACMS) offered unique rewards for students who did their best on CSAP and completed each test this year.

A variety of individual rewards were offered. Each day during testing, ACMS raffled off 24 “jeans for a day” passes to students who were present and active participants during testing days. More than 200 students earned this coveted honor!

To encourage 100 percent student participation in testing, ACMS offered two school-wide rewards. The first reward allowed the school talent show to be held during the school day on Friday, April 1, as opposed to hosting the event after school.

The second reward allowed students to give makeovers to members of the ACMS administrative team, as well as volunteer members of the staff. Approximately 25 students were randomly selected to administer the makeovers, and they were announced on Thursday afternoon so they could bring the appropriate supplies to school on Friday.

On Friday morning, the ACMS library was transformed into a chic salon for more than an hour while teams of students went to work creating makeover magic on the ACMS administrative team and teachers.

Student stylists came prepared with curling irons, hair straighteners, make-up and accessories – the library was filled with beauty products and laughter.

Following the makeovers, staff members walked the catwalk throughout the hallways and at lunch. Much to Principal Jenn Skrobela’s surprise, the student body transformed into eager paparazzi almost immediately!

Students and staff enjoyed this fabulous day, and many students remarked that winning this reward next year would be incredible.
