The Bill of Rights Institute is proud to announce that the Daniels Fund will provide five full scholarships to Colorado high-school students to attend the Constitutional Academy, the nation’s premier program for high-school students to study the Constitution.
The Academy is a five-week distance learning program that culminates in a week-long residential program in Washington, D.C. The Academy’s academics challenge and enrich students as they read and study works written by and about the leading minds of the American Founding Era. Participating students will discuss the ideals of the American Founding along with contemporary issues in weekly online reading discussions with students from across the country and university scholars.
During the educational week in Washington, D.C. students will work with historical documents at the National Archives and visit landmark sites including George Washington’s Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Upon completion of the program, students earn three college credits from Ashland University.
This summer’s Washington D.C. program dates are July 17-23 or July 24-30, 2011.

Students at Landmark academy at reunion celebrate first annual latin culture week
Landmark Academy at Reunion , a tuition-free public charter school, recently hosted their First Annual Latin Culture Week, a week focused on educating students on the various aspects of Latin culture, from music and art to sports and celebrities, through unique activities. During the week-long celebration, students were able to step into the lives of the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans with Latin culture lessons through piƱata making, cultural crafts, songs, traditional foods and more. Students made maracas and learned a traditional Mexican Hat Dance; created Aztec suns working with metal tooling; and studied different countries in Mexico , Central America and South America . Aztec dancers from the Colorado Folk Arts Council also visited with students and educated them on the spiritual and traditional aspects of Aztec culture through dance. “We reside in a community with strong Latin and Hispanic roots,” said Matt Carlton, principal of Landmark Academy at Reunion . “Our community culture is important to us at Landmark.
