FRCC Foundation to open scholarship application period

Thousands of dollars in scholarships are available to Front Range Community College students, and the FRCC Foundation urges students to take advantage of this economic help.

Scholarship applications for the 2011-2012 academic year will be accepted from midnight Monday, Jan. 24, until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 31. For application information, go to www.frontrange.edu/frccscholarships.

“Scholarships are essential to students whose parents cannot afford to send their daughters and sons to four-year colleges and to our neighbors who need retraining to help them return to the workforce,” said Martin Ruffalo, chairman of the board of the FRCC Foundation. “Scholarships also support young adults who want so much to have a skill that offers them a future.”

Last year, the foundation awarded $115,000 in scholarships. FRCC, the largest community college in Colorado, serves more than 28,000 students annually.

“FRCC provides a skilled, educated workforce for business and industry in Northern Colorado,” Ruffalo said. “The foundation is looking to individuals, businesses, and industry to help increase the scholarships available to our students.”

Ruffalo said individuals and companies interested in supporting students should contact Ryan McCoy, foundation coordinator, at 303-404-5238.

-FRCC offers nearly 100 degree and certificate programs from locations in Boulder County, Larimer County, Westminster, and Brighton, and online. FRCC’s Web site is http://www.frontrange.edu.

FRCC is a member of the Colorado Community College System, the state’s largest system of higher education serving more than 151,000 students annually.
