DISTRICT 27J MILL LEVY OVERRIDE REQUEST UNSUCCESSFUL

The $3.2 million mill levy override ballot initiative proposed by the District was unsuccessful in the General Election held on November 2, 2010. If the initiative had been successful, the funds would have been used to help offset the recent state funding cuts the District has absorbed. The $3.2 million mill levy override dollars were going to be targeted to maintain reasonable class sizes by hiring and retaining quality teachers, purchase instructional materials and maintain safe learning environments.

In a message to staff Wednesday morning, Dr. Blunck spoke of respecting the collective voice of the community and the confidence he has in District staff to continue working to provide a high quality education for each student. Dr. Blunck also took the time to thank all of the people who contributed to the election effort.
